Over at JonathanBrink.com, there's a list of "Top 50 Reasons You Might Not Be Emergent". Pretty funny stuff. Here's a sample:

46. I don’t like Rob Bell’s hair.
41. I’m just not “certain” yet it’s the right way to go.
36. I heard you had to take yoga.

March Meeting

Well, most everyone was out of town or had a conflict for February's meeting, so a couple of us went to watch a movie - 3:10 to Yuma. I had never seen the original, so it was all new for me. While not a deeply profound movie, it was good enough to hold my attention (which is a difficult task sometimes).

In the emergent movement, there is the basis of an underlying story, or a premise that undergirds life. Have you found that story in some unexpected places? For the March meeting, let's talk about movies (or music, plays, podcasts, books, etc). What has been "formational" for your journey thus far?

In addition, there are some crews of people going over to Macon County each week for tornado recovery efforts. The crews will leave Friday mornings at 8am and returning Saturday night, but if you want to go over for Saturday only, they will be glad to have you! Contact me for more information.

See you in March!

February Cohort Meeting and Crossan in Crossville

The February cohort meeting will be on February 12 at 8pm. We'll meet again at Panera Bread Company at 4855 Kingston Pike. Bring yourself, grab a cup of coffee and sit a while for discussion. What do you want to discuss in February? We'll leave the doors wide open for topics - if you want to make suggestions, just leave a comment!

Also, this may be of interest to many of you - John Dominic Crossan will be in Crossville, Tennessee, April 11-13. You can find more details at this website: http://www.pleasanthillucctn.org. Crossan is one of the most well-known Christian scholars, particularly in the "Historical Jesus" movement. He is a prolific author of books on a variety of topics. You can find out more about him at this wikipedia entry. I'm planning to go, so there may be some carpool options available!
